About 7-Seas's Whale Watch
7 Seas Whale Watch has been operating whale watching tours out of Gloucester, MA for 26 years.
Gloucester is rated as one of the top 10 places to see whales by USA TODAY, and one of the top 5 places in the world for whale watching by the World Wildlife Foundation.
This is because Gloucester is in close proximity to two major feeding areas for the great whales. No other New England port has closer access to so many whales and such a wide variety of whale species, so we should not be suprised that Gloucester boasts some of the best whale watching companies and finest research organizations in the world.
So how do you choose which whale watch company to sail with when you want to see these whales for yourself?
The truth is, it's the whales that you are here to see and it is they who will make your time on the water special no matter what. That being said...
... with 7 Seas Whale Watch you will visit with the whales longer, and get a more sophisticated narration about the whales, their habitat, and the importance of preserving the ocean environment than with anyone else.
We go beyond simply ferrying passengers to and from the whale's feeding grounds. It is our intention to continually challenge ourselves to find new ways to enhance every aspect of your whale watching experience. From on-board whale artifacts and education stations, to having the cleanest, most comfortable boat in the industry, we feel that our service and attention to our passengers is unequaled by any whale watch company... anywhere.
Customer Service and Our Crew
Of course we are also committed to providing our passengers with the finest in customer service. We understand that time spent together with friends and family is valuable, and if you choose to spend that time with us then you deserve to be treated well. Our crew is there to assist you in any way possible. From answering questions about the whales or Gloucester's storied fishing industry, to serving you snacks and drinks in our ship's galley, to making sure that children are given a choice spot on the rail to view the whales, our crew works to ensure every detail of your whale watch meets your highest expectations.
Education and Narration
We are unsurpassed in our emphasis on education. Every 7 Seas Whale Watch cruise is accompanied by an experienced marine biologist who will provide insight into the lives of the great whales and the particular whale behaviors you observe. To get the most out of your whale watch experience it helps to go with a knowledgeable, professional guide, and we have the most experienced and well traveled naturalists in the region. Our naturalists have studied whales in many oceans of the world including the waters of New England, Florida, Hawaii, Alaska, Antarctica, and South America. Our naturalists are personable, approachable, and are eager to share their extensive knowledge of the whales with our passengers in the hope that it will increase awareness of these endangered animals and threats to their marine environment. We hope this adds a great deal to you and you family's experience with the whales.
Research and Conservation
We at 7 Seas Whale Watch believe we have a responsibility to give something back to the animals and to the environment upon which our business depends. This, amongst other things, means that we support research into the natural history and the biology of the whales in our area. Every one of our whale watching trips serves as a platform upon which scientists can collect valuable data on the abundance, distribution and behavior of the Humpback whales, Finback whales, Right whales, Minke whales, and other whale and dolphin species that we may encounter. Research such as this was invaluable in the creation of the "Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary" which now serves to protect the biologically rich whale feeding areas just off our coast. Without the support of public whale watching companies the creation of this important sanctuary would have been impossible. So we thank all of you who have gone whale watching with us in the past for your interest and support!
