New England's Best Whale Watch Company & Gloucester's Newest, Most Comfortable Whale Watch Boat

Whales

Visitors to Gloucester, Massachusetts, on the southern shore of Cape Ann, have a tremendous opportunity to witness a variety wild and endangered whales in there natural habitat. There are very few other places in the world that one can expect to find such a wide variety of whales so close to shore (Hawaii, Alaska, South Africa, Australia, Patagonia and Antarctica are some others). Two major whale feeding areas, called "Stellwagen Bank" and "Jeffrey's Ledge", just so happen to be within 12 and 8 miles (respectively) from Gloucester Harbor. No other port in Massachusetts has such easy access to both of these whale feeding areas. This means that whale watching boats departing from Gloucester can spend just a few hours on the water and see sights that normally one would have to travel to distant corners of the Earth to experience.

We are privileged to have these whales here and we at Seven Seas Whale Watch are committed to helping conserve these whales (as well as their environment). We have designed the following pages to serve as an in-depth introduction to the biology of whales, as well as to inform you about what types of whales you may encounter if you have the opportunity to visit these special areas of the ocean. We hope you enjoy them and learn from them.
